How long do lash extensions last?

I have been seeing some misleading statements regarding eyelash extensions.  The one that was most upsetting stated that extensions will last up to 3 months!
Ahhhhhh no.  You may have one eyelash extension left after a 3 months.  But please don't expect all your lash extensions to be there.  You will need to get a refill every 2-4 weeks.
Your lashes fall out every 60-90 days.  As I put an extension on your lash I do not know where your lash is in it's cycle.
Please don't be mislead.  I am so glad you are reading my blog because you will have a better experience if you go into the procedure with some knowledge.

How Do I Take Care of Eyelash Extensions?

Eyelash extensions are easily maintained. Avoid any oil based cleansers, lotion or make-up remover. Use a make-up wipes or a Q-tip to carefully clean around the eye. When you use a Q-Tip roll it between your thumb and forefinger to tighten the fibers down so they don't get tangled in your lashes.  Don't rub your eyes too hard when you clean them.
I sleep on a satin pillow case.  I started to use one of these when I started straightening my hair.  I found that if I slept a satin pillow case that I didn't have to touch up my hair in the morning.  Plus, I never have a crease from my pillow on my face in the morning!  Really.

Why Do I Need a Fill Every 3 Weeks?

Normally, not all of your eyelashes fall out at the same time. They replenish gradually day by day. You might loose 1 or 2 lashes each day but when your lashes are short, you don't notice it because they are all pretty much the same length. But when your eyelashes are extended, when some lashes fall off, you notice them right away because now, there is a length and thickness difference.  Not to worry.  When some lashes fall off, there are plenty of new ones that have come out ready for the eyelash stylist to refill. Call me to be beautified again. Some people like the full look all the time and come in every 2 weeks, some prefer coming every 3 weeks. You can come as often as you want depends on your financial and time permit.

What are eyelash extensions?

The synthetic lash is applied hair by hair to each of your own lash using a special bonding agent that lasts through the length of your natural growth cycle of each lash, which is  between 60 to 100 days.

Why should you choose eyelash extensions over false eyelashes?

Eyelash extensions can be worn 24/7.  You don't have to worry about them coming unglued in the middle of your good times.  Extensions can be worn while you do your day to day activities.  You can swim, surf, do hot yoga or cool yoga.  :)  I have had 2 clients visit Thailand and the weather temperature there was 130 degrees with about the same percentage of humidity.  Granted, this is an extreme test but they really held up well.  They were thrilled that they looked so good even with sweat dripping down their nose.

The part that is so great about eyelash extensions is every day there is minimal upkeep.  In fact, I tell my clients that the less you touch them, the better they stay.

For all you future brides... consider eyelash extensions over the "strip lash".  I have seen some bad photos of brides that you can clearly tell they have false eyelashes.  One of my favorite benefits of eyelash extensions is that you cannot tell you are wearing them.  They are that lightweight.

How to pick a good eyelash stylist....(Continued)

Okay... went out to dinner with some "gal pals".  Our waitress had something weird going on around her eyes.  After putting on my glasses and getting a good look at her eyes I realize that she has "flairs" on her lashes.  But there was only one on her right eye and two on her left.  It looked horrible!!!!  If you are going to wear "flairs" please do not have them applied with semi-permanent glue!!!!!  Use the glue that comes in the package.
I left my business card...

How to pick a good eyelash stylist....(Continued)

3.  Ask what kind of lashes do they use?
The answer would be synthetic lashes, mink or silk.
4.  Is it a one to one application?
I am finding that salons are using "flairs" or "tabs".  This product can be bought at CVS or Walgreens.  There are five lashes joined together.  Looks like a fan of lashes. These are being applied with semi-permanent glue.  They will pull out your lashes because they are not meant to be applied with the semi-permanent glue.  "Flairs" should only be worn for a short period of time.
